Highly sought after by collectors of “Made in Occupied Japan”, this sweet vintage Cruet Set: sugar bowl with lid and spoon, salt & pepper shakers with cork stoppers and original caddy set is stamped “Hand Painted”, “Made in Occupied Japan”. Both, the sugar bowl and caddy have these stamps; S & P shakers are stamped Japan. This piece was hand-painted during period when the U.S. occupied Japan directly after WWII, circa 1945-1952.
The set is in good condition. The pieces fit into their original caddy that has delicate handles on each side. Sugar bowl has a lid and spoon. The sugar spoon has a slight imperfection. Salt and pepper shakers have cork stoppers. The delicate hand-painted flowers on white ceramic are yellow, purple, turquoise, and green with gold accents around the lids and tray. Bottom of caddy is smooth.
A very unusual and delicate piece, this is a true find. A treasure for the Occupied Japan China or S & P collector. Set has six pieces: caddy, salt shaker, pepper shaker, sugar bowl, lid for sugar bowl and sugar spoon. Pre-owned
